Medical products export to U.S. Market effected by new act from USTR
The White House has taken aggressive new steps in its effort to reduce a $337bn trade deficit with China, announcing that it will impose a 25% tariff on $50bn of Chinese goods containing “industrially significant technology”.
The list covers a wide range of chemicals, pharmaceuticals, rubber products, metal products, stainless steel products, aluminum alloy products, turbojet products, light-emitting diodes, motorcycles and dental equipment. Only pharmaceutical and medical products include dozens of key products used by pharmaceutical manufacturers, as well as medical devices such as pacemakers and artificial joints. Examples include insulin for diabetics, adrenaline for allergic reactions, and drugs such as vaccines, blood products, and antidepressants, as well as medical devices such as syringes, MRI devices, defibrillators, artificial joints, and pacemakers.
